Raptors are birds of prey with very keen vision and sharp, curved talons and beaks. Some species are diurnal and others nocturnal.
“Raptor” is derived from the Latin word “rapere” which means to seize, take or carry away.
Raptors’ well-developed eyes and ears take up so much room on their skulls that there is little room left for olfactory organs. It is impossible to say how acute their sense of smell might be.
