Produce is picked up daily by our apprentices or volunteers from several grocery stores within a 60-mile radius. This invaluable contribution is then brought back to the WRR Nutrition Center to be sorted, cleaned, prepared and stored.
One of the many examples of the diets prepared for the animals in the sanctuary is the wolf diet. With the exception of the one day per week when they are fasted, each wolf is given a meal of 2 cups of a prepared dry food, 1½ pounds of red meat/chicken and a sprinkle of grated vegetables. In order to keep their meal interesting, we vary the vegetables they are fed.
The permanent resident hawks here at WRR are provided food items that mimic their wild diet. To supplement this, they are given a natural vitamin combination formulated expressly for raptors.
