Armadillo is a Spanish word meaning “little armored one” and refers to the bony plates that cover their back, head, legs and tail. Armadillos are the only living mammals who have this distinctive type of shell.
Most armadillo species dig burrows and sleep up to 16 hours per day.

WRR was founded in 1977 in San Antonio, Texas. Since 2001 its primary base of operations has been located on 212 acres near Kendalia, Texas, a property which was purchased through the generosity of three of our supporters.
