Kendalia Facilities & Grounds

The main Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation (WRR) sanctuary and rehabilitation facilities are located on 187 wooded acres in Kendalia in the Texas Hill Country, 50 miles from both San Antonio and Austin. There are six ponds, two creeks, and the Little Blanco River on the property. The topography of the land is diverse, and specific areas were chosen as ideal sites for the animals' enclosures.

The large cats have tree-studded enclosures and their own rocky bluff. The farmed animals have spacious pastures and their own ponds. The primates have boulders, oak and hackberry trees, and deep grass in each of their homes. The parrots and other non-native birds' homes are 40-foot-long flights constructed of stainless steel mesh and a fully heated building for the cold winters. The bears have a one-acre home that overlooks the pig and goat pastures. Much of the 187 acres is left in a totally natural state for the native species of wildlife who were living here when we acquired the land.

WRR constructed a 5,000-square-foot Clinic & Rehabilitation Nursery and a 3,000-square-foot Nutrition Center, and renovated several small buildings on the property that are now used for administration offices, maintenance, animal receiving, animal enrichment, hay barns, and other such needs.

Because of our commitment to respect for the rights and needs of wildlife, the main WRR facilities and grounds are not open to the public.
